A complete guide to the Milano Unica’s F/W 2018-19 Trends

Cinema production as magic and the art of esthetic and contemplative reflection is the source of inspiration for the four trends that Milano Unica has identified for the Fall/Winter 2018/19 season. Movies and fashion are two forms of expression that use languages open to suggestions and contaminations. This is why Milano Unica decided to delve into the tie that binds them, imagining unexpected collaborations: four directors – Paolo Sorrentino, Pedro Almodóvar, Stanley Kubrick and Quentin Tarantino -  try their hand at TV series and movies made by other authors, but still similar or close in terms of colors, similarities, intuitions and references.

While “Dynasty” is not far from the hedonism, luxury and excess of the splendid Rome depicted in “The Great Beauty” by Paolo Sorrentino, Pedro  Almodóvar’s agender and pop glam style is linked to the unconventional characters represented in “Victor Victoria”, Blake Edwards’s movie inspired by an old ‘30s movie. Stanley Kubrick meets Sherlock Holmes in his modern persona: the futuristic style of “2001: A Space Odyssey” permeates traditional British elegance to give rise to a new high-tech pragmatism. The last theme develops the concept of the journey through a nomadic spirit with a tale that combines the “Little Buddha” by Bernardo Bertolucci with Quentin Tarantino’s language and style.

These unusual combinations, with all their nuances, go beyond the boundaries of cinema production, finding a new interpretation on wool, silk, velvet, trims, zippers and macramé. The dream of the silver screen meets the world of fashion, i.e. the raw materials that represent its essence, giving rise to new narrations, all gathered together in the Fall/Winter 2018-19 trend book, a true and complete guide to the trends that will inspire the collections of the next seasons. A preview on the future of fashion.
