Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of the 33rd edition took place on July 6 at the Auditorium of Fiera Milano. Alessandro Barberis Canonico, President of Milano Unica, opened the exhibition by underscoring the importance and the value of the physical trade show for products, namely textiles and accessories that need to be touched and perceived with and through the senses in order to be fully appreciated. He also reminded everyone of the essential role of meeting, establishing direct relations and promoting discussion as essential factors for the recovery and growth of the sector, as well as a fundamental source of inspiration for new projects.

Numerous representatives of institutions and companies were on the stage along with the President of Milano Unica: Giancarlo Giorgetti, the Italian Minister for Economic Development; Renzo Rosso, Confindustria’s delegate for Excellence, Beauty and Style of Italian Brands; Marino Vago, President of Sistema Moda Italia; and Carlo Capasa, President of the National Chamber for Italian Fashion, preceded by the speech given by Claudia D'Arpizio, senior partner at Bain & Company. This opportunity for discussion offered professionals an analytical perspective on the unequivocally positive data, corroborating a real recovery and development of the sector.

Tendenze and Sustainability

Tendenze and Sustainability represent the creative and conceptual heart of the trade show, the space where companies showcase their creations inspired by the Tendenze and manufactured according to the principles of sustainability. In this area of visual and tactile suggestions, Milano Unica has once again integrated a selection of 1,500 proposals, from 156 exhibitors, that combine a strong aesthetic content with a production approach based on attention to the environment and ethics.

In the Tendenze and Sustainability area, visitors discovered the creative proposals developed by the participating exhibitors inspired by the theme Magnifiche Passioni and learned more about the sustainable aspects of fabrics and accessories thanks to the information labels applied to the individual samples.
