MILANO UNICA 43: THREE DAYS OF ONGOING INSPIRATION FOR THE TEXTILE AND ACCESSORIES INDUSTRY
The 43rd edition saw increased international participation, new connections, and a wealth of content that extends beyond the trade show
For three days, Milano Unica served as the meeting place where research, creativity, and manufacturing expertise converged, shaping the Fall-Winter 2027/28 collections and reaffirming its standing as the premier trade show for high-end textiles and accessories.
Milano Unica 43 has demonstrated the industry's ability to evolve without losing its identity, with innovation and expertise remaining the key competitive factors.
An increasingly international event
The figures from the 43rd edition confirm Milano Unica's solid growth. A total of 737 companies participated in the event, including 604 exhibitors across the Ideabiella, Moda In, and Shirt Avenue halls, marking a 15.2% increase in European exhibitors compared with the corresponding edition in 2025.
Significant figures were also recorded for visitors. For the first time, international buyers made up nearly 50% of total attendance. The number of companies from France, Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States increased, underscoring the event’s international appeal.
MU Tendenze Sostenibilità: Where creative research and responsibility converge
The event’s inspirational heart was once again the MU Tendenze Sostenibilità area, where research on the collections intertwines with a broader reflection on the industry’s future.
The MU IS PUNK! concept served as the fil rouge of the creative narrative for the Fall-Winter 2027/28 season, engaging in dialogue with the “Gian Paolo Barbieri. The Radical Elegance” photography exhibition and with Milano Unica’s five sustainability value pillars: Climate Action, Chemical Safety, Biodiversity Preservation, Circular Economy, and Social Justice.
The journey demonstrated how aesthetics, innovation, and responsibility can align.
With e-MilanoUnica Connect, the experience extends beyond the physical event. Buyers and users can further explore the sustainable products on display at the trade show, while podcasts dedicated to the season’s trends are available on the Milano Unica website through the end of July, offering deeper insights into inspirations, materials, and creative visions.
Innovation and competitiveness at the heart of the Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony was titled “From Roots to the Future: The Path of Innovation in Textiles and Fashion.” Representatives from institutions, companies, and industry professionals attended the Ceremony to reflect on the transformations reshaping the industry.
The Ceremony opened with remarks by Simone Canclini, President of Milano Unica, and official greetings from Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region; Giovanni Bozzetti, President of Fondazione Fiera Milano; Matteo Zoppas, President of the ICE Agency; and Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy.
Moderated by Nicola Porro, the event featured presentations by Chiara Beghelli, Erika Andreetta, Mauro Sampellegrini, Stefano Galassi, David Pambianco, and Anna Mirenda, offering distinct yet complementary perspectives on the value of innovation, competencies and skills, research, and industrial policy for the competitiveness of the value chain.

MU Live Dinner & Arts: The value of relationships
The first day concluded with MU Live Dinner & Arts, held in the evocative setting of the Diocesan Museum.
An occasion dedicated to meetings, dialogue, and relationship-building, where culture, music, and conviviality brought buyers, exhibitors, and international guests together beyond the exhibition spaces, underscoring that networking is an essential part of the Milano Unica experience.
A program rich in special features
Alongside the collections, the event showcased numerous special projects that broadened the industry’s narrative through research, education, innovation, and sustainability.
Among these, AquiLANA presented “Eterne Transumanze,” a project that highlights Italian wool and the transhumance tradition through a contemporary lens, transforming materials, the local landscape, and craftsmanship into a shared narrative.
Together with AquiLANA, the numerous Special Areas offered visitors new insights, experiences, and perspectives on the evolution of the supply chain.
International hospitality at the ITA Lounge
The ITA Lounge served as one of the main hubs for the international delegation of buyers and journalists, confirming the strategic role of the collaboration with the ICE Agency in facilitating connections between Italian manufacturers and foreign markets.
The experience continues on e-MilanoUnica Connect

On e-MilanoUnica Connect, the series of features dedicated to the Fall-Winter 2027/28 collections continues, along with inspirational content, in-depth analyses, and tools that enable buyers and industry professionals to continue exploring materials, companies, and innovations even after their visit to the trade show.
