A new day for cotton

Growing attention and commitment from companies and brands
Technologies - MU Sustainable Innovation

Cotton, long subjected to criticism for the intensive use of water and polluting chemicals during cultivation, for workers’ conditions and for the exploitation of child labor, is now experiencing a rebirth, with attention to the environment and ethical commitment on the part of brands and textile companies. More and more producers, in fact, prefer cotton from organic cultivations, and they adhere to strict protocols on chemical safety of the processes to which cotton is subjected, endorse initiatives such as Better Cotton Initiative, Made in Africa and FairTrade, that assist and support local communities. Post-production and post-consumer recycling initiatives are also growing.
