Vitale Barberis Canonico

The Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill interprets sustainability

Vitale Barberis Canonico is one of the world’s oldest wool mills managed by the 13th generation of the same family, committed to creating the best Made in Italy menswear fabrics. For over 350 years, all the phases of wool processing have been carried out in the Pratrivero and Pray plants, in the heart of the Biella district, benefiting from the best water for textile production.

The Vitale Barberis Canonico wool mill interprets sustainability with three main coexisting and interconnected aspects: economic, social, and environmental. The link combining these three pillars makes business sustainability possible, namely the company’s ability to create value over time, a key condition for operation.

With its long history, Vitale Barberis Canonico has always confirmed its commitment to sustainability. The company has close ties with the territory, from which it draws the main resources returning economic growth and sustenance to the benefit of the community without ever neglecting attention to the environmental dimension. The company’s stakeholders – as well as the market - focuses on People, the Environment, and Products, which must increasingly meet requirements in terms of respect for human rights and the environment. Vitale Barberis Canonico does not follow sustainability as a trend now shared by the most important fashion brands but confirms that this is something deeper rooted in its DNA. Focusing on these founding values, Vitale Barberis Canonico provides concrete data testifying to its commitment to enhancing the people and their professionalism, safety and health in the workplace, environmental protection, product responsibility, and respect for the territory in which it operates.

Vitale Barberis Canonico has always been committed to respecting the environment and the people in the creation of the best fabrics. H.O.P.E. - an acronym for How to Optimise People and Environment – is the new line of sustainable fabrics developed from the centennial knowledge and expertise that the company reflects in its work, taking care of man and nature.

A positive message that Vitale Barberis Canonico intends to launch in order to believe in a better, more livable, and sustainable world.

The line includes 3 different projects: Fabrics with undyed natural fibers; Blended fabrics with recycled wool; and Fabrics dyed with natural pigments.
