"We realize that we play a key role in redesigning the future of fashion and in the long-term success of sustainable practices."
Filipe Salgado, Italian Market Manager

Why is it important to invest in sustainability?

Being a part of the textile industry, we recognize our responsibility towards protecting the environment.

Like other companies we realize that we play a key role in redesigning the future of fashion and in the long-term success of sustainable practices.

Creating products that are in line with customer expectations and offer better performance from an environmental standpoint is an increasingly important area, which Lemar has been working on for some time.

Our company is carefully designing its collections with responsible sourcing and fiber choice, quality of products, eco-labels and fiber-to-fiber technologies.

How is your company committed to reducing the environmental impact of your production?

These are some of the steps we are taking: recycling all our waste; gradually substituting our virgin polyester yarns with recycled polyester; working with BCI cotton as well as ECO-CARE polyamide that allows a 40% reduction in water consumption, energy savings of 50% and reduces carbon emissions by 60%.

We are also trying to use finishing and production processes that use less water whenever possible.

What are your sustainability projects for the upcoming future?

ECOVERO VISCOSE ARE FIBERS DERIVED FROM SUSTAINABLE WOOD AND PULP, COMING FROM CERTIFIED AND CONTROLLED SOURCES

ECOVERO viscose are fibers derived from sustainable wood and pulp, coming from certified and controlled sources. They have been certified with the EU Ecolabel as meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle: from raw material extraction to production, distribution and disposal.

The manufacturing of ECOVERO™ fibers generates up to 50% lower emissions and water impact compared to generic Viscose.

ECOVERO™ branded viscose fibers give you confidence that your fashion choices are environmentally responsible and have a low environmental impact.

How is your company responding to the uncertainties of this period? What changes are being implemented?

We have managed to keep our regular work structure and pace.

Our company is concentrating its efforts on responding to current market needs and we have adjusted production in order to satisfy the demand for fabrics to be used for protective masks and medical gowns.
