Joshua Ellis is very proud of its industrial expertise and heritage, and puts heart and soul into every meter of fabric produced. The mill processes the finest fibers - cashmere, Escorial® wool, lambswool and camel hair – in its daily production, turning them into the most exclusive fabrics and accessories. Joshua Ellis has been doing this for over 250 years, using skills passed down from generation to generation. Each piece of fabric undergoes 21 different in-house processes before being declared suitable for sale.

Which is the most innovative product of your A/W 22-23 collection?
The most innovative product for the Autumn/Winter 2022-2023 collection is our duffle bag. We have two formats: our classic A305, weighing 850g, and also our lighter A925, weighing 650g. This woolen cloth is also known as Elysian, which means blissful and delightful. The name Elysian is meant to suggest the most heavenly finish you can get on wool.
What characteristics make it innovative?
The choice of the raw materials is extremely important. Wool must be rough enough to create the finish of the pile, but soft enough to give the fabric a lux hand. Elysian wool perfectly reflects these characteristics. The weaving process is extremely complex. It is essentially woven three times with two layers attached together and covered by a third one developed by weft floats. The fabric falls in the same category as Corduroy and Velvet, with the only difference being that the pile is created by breaking the weft floats rather than cutting them. The fabric then undergoes a specialized finishing process. 15 different finishing processes are carried out on this material in total, making it one of the most labor-intensive products we produce.

and is locally spun and processed at our
factory in Batley.

The classic A 305 duffle bag is already available in Stock Service. Both versions, A925 and A305, can be found in our seasonal collections in a wide range of colors.
