MU METAMORPHOSIS

SPRING-SUMMER 2028 COLLECTIONS

Milano Unica unveils MU METAMORPHOSIS, the creative and strategic concept underlying the textile and accessories collections for the Spring-Summer 2028 season. Transcending stylistic considerations, this project embodies a cultural transformation encompassing everyday life, work, and our connection with the environment.

“The Milano Unica Sustainability Trends concept stems from our desire to provide the fashion industry with a practical tool for understanding and anticipating changes in fashion, society and the environment. Our role is to showcase the excellence of textile production and accessories, and to create content and services that guide businesses and industry professionals in their decision-making processes. In doing so, we foster dialogue between creativity, craftsmanship and innovation. MU METAMORPHOSIS embodies this ethos and translates it into a presentation of the Spring–Summer 2028 collections, offering a contemporary vision that remains deeply rooted in the product's cultural identity,” affirmed Simone Canclini, President of Milano Unica.

This new vision reflects a radical shift in the way we live, consume, and attribute value to things. It puts the ability of people and industry to adapt to a constantly changing world at its core.

Today, the aim is not to seek extravagance, but to achieve a new balance in which fabrics, technologies and craftsmanship respond to a genuine need for purpose and longevity that transcends the seasons.

«Change does not imply renouncing one’s identity, but rather evolving, as nature teaches us. The real challenge in fashion, as in life, is to evolve responsibly in order to create authentic, enduring value,» explained Stefano Fadda, Artistic Director of Milano Unica.

Just as life changes, so do materials. Fabrics are becoming lighter and more thoughtfully designed, and are offering greater adaptability. Production processes are rediscovering the value of craftsmanship, and technology is becoming an integral part of everyday life. Even wool, which is traditionally associated with the colder months, is evolving to offer new levels of lightness. Ultra-fine yarns, airy textures and ultra-lightweight constructions are broadening its range of uses and making it suitable for summer as well as for an increasingly cross-seasonal wardrobe.

MU METAMORPHOSIS responds to this scenario by offering fabrics and finishes that are based on three key principles:

Lightness: the removal of anything superfluous, whether material or conceptual

Enrichment: the pivotal role of artisanal craftsmanship, attention to detail, and texture.

Adaptability: flexible and timeless solutions, designed to complement an increasingly fluid lifestyle that blends city life, travel, the great outdoors, the home and hybrid working.

The Spring–Summer 2028 season is structured around three key narrative and stylistic pillars:

LIGHTWEAR – The Metamorphosis of Lightness

HANDWEAR – The Metamorphosis of Craftsmanship

TECHWEAR – The Metamorphosis of Protection

LIGHTWEAR METAMORPHOSIS

Lightness symbolises freedom, comfort, mobility, and the move beyond excess.

In the future, luxury will not be measured by weight, but by weightlessness, the ability of a garment to appear to vanish on the body. Materials become so light that they appear ethereal: ultra-fine fabrics, fluid surfaces and carefully considered transparencies move naturally with the body, creating a new level of comfort and freedom.

Materials: wool and wool/silk blends with ultra-lightweight weaves; extra-light cottons and linens; open-weave, matte silks; light, fluid crepes and viscose fabrics; soft, semi-opaque or semi-transparent organza; summer-weight cashmere; ultra-fine tropical wool; airy cotton mousseline and voile.

Processes and treatments: soft-touch and peach-effect washes; controlled finishes and creasing; tone-on-tone, layered transparencies; fluid, micro-pleating and ultra-lightweight fil coupé.

Accessories: ultralight nylon zippers with a matte finish; mother-of-pearl, horn, and transparent bioresin buttons; tapes made from technical organza and lightweight, washed cotton; soft-touch labels featuring minimalist jacquard designs and ultra-thin motifs.

Colours: Mist Grey, Rosy Linen and Muted Sage become more intense against brighter hues such as Sunny Yellow, Aqua Green and Radiant Lilac. White completes the palette as a versatile and universal colour.

HANDWEAR METAMORPHOSIS

True value lies in the time, in the care and technical precision of the craft.

Craftsmanship returns to the fore. Not as a nod to nostalgia or to cultural tradition, but as a new expression of contemporary luxury. It is a creative approach that can transform even the simplest materials through techniques, textures, raised detailing and fine touches, restoring their identity, richness and desirability.

Materials: lightweight, handcrafted wools; compact cottons with raised embroidery; reimagined denim and drill with handcrafted details and a deconstructed look; irregular jacquards; heavyweight woven and quilted fabrics; knits with three-dimensional stitches.

Processes and finishes: 3D embroidery, raised effects and embossing; braiding and macramé; maxi decorative stitching; raw-edge finishes; patchwork and visible repair work; textured prints.

Accessories: satin-finish metal zippers with handcrafted pull tabs and braided cords; buttons made from natural wood, corozo, ceramic, or etched metal; cotton, grosgrain or embroidered tapes; labels featuring micro-embroidery or fabric patches.

Colours: the new classics Ocean Blue and Purple blend with the sophisticated mid-hues of Taupe and Wicker. The softer shades of Lavender and Clay complement Black which anchors the colour palette, creating contrasts and enhancing the intensity of each hue.

TECHWEAR METAMORPHOSIS

Technology becomes an invisible part of our everyday lives and wellbeing.

Technology ceases to be a mere focal point and instead becomes lightweight and unobtrusive, seamlessly integrating into everyday life and offering protection from the elements, as well as comfort, mobility and versatility. A single, fluid and boundary-free wardrobe fuses outdoor life, travel and remote working.

Materials: technical wools in lightweight blends with protective finishes; active-wool, nylon and ultra-light polyamide textiles; feather-light stretch fabrics with high resilience; high-performance recycled polyesters; ultra-light breathable membranes; UV-protective fabrics and soft-touch microfibres for indoor and outdoor use.

Processes and finishes: subtle iridescent laminations; laser-cut and visible heat-sealed seams; reflective surfaces; functional micro-perforations and water-repellent coatings.

Accessories: gel-coated zippers with matte or gunmetal finishes; lightweight, magnetic press studs made from moulded TPU; technical micro-mesh, reflective and elastic tapes; heat-transfer labels, made of silicone and featuring integrated QR codes.

Colours: the intense glow of Vermilion Red and Electric Green is enhanced by the luminous halos of Melon and Iridescence, which create a vibrant contrast of reflections against Tobacco and Caramel. Deep Red provides a bold and vibrant finishing touch to the palette, adding a daring and sensual edge.
